So I am making up a trolley for an inverter mig,
Just wondered what you lot think are 'must-haves' so I can take these into account when designing it!
So far I am thinking...
Big wheels on the back, 2x casters on the front. I am toying with the idea of one central front caster which will make it more manoverable but less stable?
(The workshop floor is rough concrete , outside is compacted gravel)
Welder on the top shelf, so its easy to take off if I want to stick it in the car etc.
Big handle on the front, all rounded edges. Make it come out further than the mig torch fitting so it acts as protection and I can hang gloves etc on it.
Gas Bottle to the side of the welder rather than behind, I can mount this towards the rear which will give me space for a shelf in front of the bottle, to the side of the welder, or, mount it central which should make the trolley easier to move but don't think it will help that much.
Drawer under the welder, to hold spare tips, welding pliers, brush and so on, (Just the consumables you are likely to use when doing a job)
Cupboard under the drawer.
The idea of this is to hold a 300mm spool of wire to feed into the welder (it only holds a 200mm internally). The spool holder is another project in itself and I may have feed issues. If I don't end up doing it then the cupboard can be storage for the welding helmet .
I was thinking that if I put the door to the front of the welder I could leave a gap above the top of the door, I could then put the torch and return lead into the cupboard and close the door to keep everything away from damage when not in use.
If I want to mount a 300mm spool though I think the door will be better on the side.
I am thinking of mounting a torch holder on the actuall welder itself so it is still there if the torch is removed from the trolley.
I am also thinking of holders for the power cable, maybe a peg that I can coil the lance around which could double up as a mask holder when in use, a holder for an angle grinder (often use my cordless with a wire brush wheel for prep), holder for a spare battery.
I know I could keep adding bits on forever but I am just trying to keep to the basics to start with!
Hit me with your ideas!
