Type of crimp ?

Ok need to crimp a sc35 -8 crimp

And I've not got the tool (i did at one time but I think I sold it on here)

But this looks a bit different as its octagonal on the top and a bump in the bottem

What tool do I need for this ?

Basically a cable lug crimper.

I put in 30 - 50 mm.

Does it matter if it crimps a lug on a cable correctly ?

The local welding supply places have some welding lead lugs with a pin that you hit with a hammer to crimp.
IIRC the pin is square.

the unit its for is a very high power golfing buggy so i want it right

if a octagonical will do the same job thats fine but idealy is like the same

this this was prob the way it was done as a guess

but as the cable is in situe cant be done this way so going to be looking for a hydrolic cable crimp

I find the crimps done by the type of crimper @Barking Mat posted to be better than the draper one you hit with a hammer. The hammer type tend to break a lot of the cable strands and they seem to be prone to the cable breaking off at the connector.
I have one of these and it's great for on vehicle work.

just bought one i sold one on here a year ago but this will be works as we will need it more often im guessing

Yes, done lots with it, also got the big lever type, prefer the hydraulic version because its easier to get the boot over the crimped lug

If you've got a copper cable being crimped to a lug, can't see the point of sheathing it in copper to crimp into a lug, to be honest.

Using copper to bind the strands before inserting into the lug then squash it!

I used the thin copper sleeves a fair bit on industrial welders, they keep the fine stranded wire together when putting them into terminals.

That's exactly the type I was looking for earlier, and have used at work for the last 15+ years, does a proper job.
