Two way dimming?

I've been presented with an oddball one here. The main light in the dining room has two way switching and swmbo would like to be able to dim the light (for a more romantic ambience I don't know who for! )

Possible? Easily done? What say you?

Off the top of my head, the only way I can think of (without complicated electronics) would be to have two switches and a non-switching dimmer. Wire the two switches as you would expect, then add the dimmer between the output of that pair or switches and the light.

Yeah, that was the only way I could think of but of course that would involve adding a back box somewhere to house it. Not that I'm ruling that out!

thats a 2 gang job - not as nice as one above but option also.

I think I bought this one, but don't recommend it as its started flickering after about a month, need to take it back.

One of the current switches is a 2 gang 2 way (along with the kitchen) and the other is a 1 gang 2 way.

Smart bulbs. (Alexa, Google - pick your choice) dim lounge light to 25% etc. Smart switch if you prefer which replaces the normal one

I don’t know about UK wiring, but possible here - our living room lights are in two banks and we have four switches - 3 ordinary and one set of dimmers / control for each bank - this is the dimmer & one of the 4 on / off switches

It does indeed, you can only dim it from one position though, check your back boxes as sometimes dimmers can be a squeeze in the shallow back boxes

if u have 1gang 2 way switching across the room just change one switch to a 2 way dimmer . as above make sure you have the depth in the box to fit one. needs to be about 25mm depth
