Few things first before I get into the meat of things I suppose.
I'm 26 and I am from Liverpool, I have welded all of once in my life and I was babied through, like teaching a child to read. The gun was held for me, it was all set up and ready to go and they let me run a line, smack the slag off and clean it up.
I got bit and for the first time since school had an idea of what I want to do with my life.
Now I am looking to get my own welder and teach myself as well as, when available, do a 16 week course in the 3 processes to get a hang of it but for now, practice.
So, after some research, I found myself looking at thermal arc's 181i, cheap enough, its MP so that's beautiful and I believe they are owned by ESAB so I know they are *decent* at minimum.
TL;DR: I want to learn to weld, what machine should I start with?
My questions are;
what are the down sides of the machine?
If not, what would you recommend?
Is it even worth me buying my own before I do a course?
