Top exit reg on a side exit bottle?

This maybe a stupid question, and I think I know the answer, but given I'm new to this I don't want to screw up the first thing I do

I've just picked up a rent-free 20l argon mix gas bottle, supplied by South West Gas Supplies. Just went to fit the regulator, and realised that I have a top exit regulator, and the bottle of course is side exit D'oh!

Can I safely fit my top exit reg to the side exit outlet on the gas bottle (and tilt my head to read the gauges ), or do I need a side exit reg (or an adaptor)?

Should be OK, just make sure that the safety relief valve (if there is one fitted) is pointing out of harms way

I fit mine with the reg on its' back and look down at the gauges, it still works.

Excellent! I suspected that would be the answer, but like I say, didn't want to make any stupid first-timer mistakes!
