Hi, I am playing around with a VW T5 cast exhaust manifold and want to weld on a steel turbo flange.
I think the manifold could be iron based as it doesn't spark much when you clean it up with a grinder.
I have seen a couple of posts of people doing the same kind of job using 309 filler with great results.
I have a spare manifold so I cleaned up an area yesterday and ran in a couple of welds using 309, it welded very nicely but I don't know the long term reliability using 309.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
