For some reason I'm struggling with setting the feeds to cut a 1.5mm thread. My Colchester has allways cut at a different setting to that on the gearbox nameplate - it gives pitch at 36t drive gear, but doesn't specify which gears are fitted at a) the output shaft, b) the screw cutting input. In other words is the driver gear the input to the screcutting gearbox or the headstock output gear?
I have an 18 tooth gear, the 36 tooth gear, a 42 tooth gear, and of course the idler.
In an ideal world I would like the pitch to marry up to the settings given on the plate, but as long as the actual pitch is correct I can live with it.
Anyone know?
