I have a Thermal arc 175, I use it for MMA, it has a lift tig switch on it too.
I'd like to give tig a go, on the cheap.
They also do a version that has an additional terminal above the - dinse socket, mine doesn't have that and is like the one in the picture below.
To tig with it what kind of torch would I need? I assume it'll have a separate pipe coming off it to go to a gas reg, I have seen some like this on ebay.
And secondly would it be a bad idea to try and learn tig on this machine (is it pants for tig and a gimmicky extra feature they put on them and buying the tig stuff needed for it would be a waste of money and I'd be better off going for a tig machine anyway?
and thirdly can you tig with C02? I already have the reg and cylinder for my MIG so it would save me buying the argon reg/bottle.
