I just thought i'd show my theatre lamp that i polished and mounted on a tripod. I bought two of these in a very poor state and made a good one out of the pair. it took me ages to polish it looks like aluminium but i think there is a lot of zinc in it and with the heat over the years the metal whatever it is has gone as hard as hell. started off with 80 grit on the DA sander i also made some brass bits and bobs. it sits in the corner of my living room working on a timer. just thought you might like to see it and share yours 20180317_104658.jpg

Can't have things like this in the house. Kids would trash it.
    Top job. Looks the biz.

    Nice, I do like these.
When I moved a couple of years ago I decided a batchelor pad needed a batchelor pad lamp.
A forum member, I forget who, had acquired a couple of insulators off overhead pylons and offered me one.
I fancied something dangerous looking thinking of dear old Nikola Tesla and Jules Verne.
No drawings just ideas and what was in the workshop, I used a cheap downlighter from a diy shop.
I was pleased with it, and have told some terrible lies about what it is/was
While decorating I remember to take the top spike off.

I would love some of the real big insulators.
I'm sure this would be a seller if I could find a supply
