This is a 'copy & paste' job from another forum - it shows the way the market is atm

Hi all.
Long winded but read on if you have a minter you may be considering moving on.
A few weeks ago, I read on the BMW X3 G01 forum that the likes of WBAC, Evans Halshaw etc.... were paying good money for nice examples, albeit this was on the X3 forum, I believe it's for any decent 2nd hand car.
Anyways, here's our timeline and offers rec'd for our 2019 X3 M40i with, at the time, 8k miles.
I wouldn't normally post how much we paid for it but I wanted to show true figures and experience with the companies we contacted.
March 2020 - BMW Stratstone Chesterfield - Paid £39,450 - 3.9k miles
2021 -
May 6th
WBAC offer - £37,195 - 8k miles, not too shabby we thought.
WWAC offer - £37,410 - no more offers rec'd/updated by me
E.Halshaw - £37,210 - no more offers rec'd/updated by me (btw, just got another quote just now from EH, now £40,572!!)
May 11th
WBAC - £37,565 - starting to climb
May 17th
WBAC - £38,680 - still climbing
May 22nd
WBAC - £38,680 - no change
June 1st
WBAC - now 8.8k miles as we'd been to Filey and to see the daughter in Chippenham - £39,635 - now above what we paid
June 4th
Car washed, hoovered and cleared out ready for a 'true' WBAC appraisal as their offers are valid for 4 days only.
The car is mint, no alloy damage, 2 tiny stone chips on the front bumper/same panel.
WBAC note the 2 stone chips and say £157 smart repair to fix plus £75 admin fee, although they did add on £25 as the mileage was less than the 9k I put on the quote.
Offered on the day - £39,428 based on the above deductions and additional £25 for the mileage.
Not bad we thought, 15mths and lost £22.
Slight issue, private reg on it, so had to put it on retention last Fri which meant the £39,428 guaranteed on the day was now going to be out of date until the new V5 was rec'd, actually came today.
Had to get a revised offer from WBAC Mon 7th June - now drops to £39,595.
Again, we were ok with that, just meant we were losing another £40 but still, only losing £62 in 15mths.
Got chatting to our neighbour on Monday who recommends Motorway. No fees, value based on info you provide.
Mon 7th June
Motorway offer - £41,500 - WTF is all that about, 2k more than what we paid BMW last year, too good to be true me thinks.
So, I accept that offer but then have to send in multiple photo's of the car, incl seats, dash, boot, wheels and tyre depths plus the 2 stone chips noted by WBAC and I added in a tiny chip on the drivers door side moulding to keep it all above board.
Motorway stood by their valuation as they charge only £50 for stone chips as long as they are on the same panel and not excessive, not bothered by the one on the door.
They then put your car out for bids to varying dealers they use. This was done Tues and guaranteed to have a firm offer by 3pm Tues.
Low and behold, 3.10pm Tues, a guaranteed offer comes thru from the highest bidder which happened to be Arnold Clark, yep, the notorious A.Clark group, at £42,494!!!
So, whats the twist/catch, absolutely zilch.
AC contacted me yesterday and asked which local branch I wanted to drop the car with so that the money could be paid via BACS.
Turned up at Doncaster branch today expecting to get haggled for the stone chips, tyres, valet etc etc.....
No, nothing, just a quick, and I mean quick look around the car where I had to point out the stone chips as the lad didn't see them.
20 mins later, paperwork done and full £42,494, a full £3044 more than what we paid BMW last March, unbelievable Jeff!!!!!
He then showed me their valuation without Motorways bids, £38,805 so no idea how they've bid nigh on 4k over that.
Car on it's way to BMW Irving so I'll keep an eye out for it coming up at, I guess, the £45k mark.
So, WBAC not bad but will knock off what they can but, Motorway, what a pleasure that was after i was very sceptical about them being pie in the sky wideboys, not at all, genuine offers/bids and zero fees.
Got a minter? Try all of the above, you may get a surprise. "
Anyone on here seen/experienced similar?
