Took this piccy earlier today - its an outrigger on my Vw camper. The weld is at the mid point of the new outrigger where it is joined to a jacking point. This is after two weeks of welding various chassis parts by a newbie so be gentle with me! Having said that, any tips or comments gratefully received...
I'm actually happy with the overlap seam weld, as the penetration is good and I wacked it damn hard with a mallet and it seemed solid as you like. This was with a Sealey 180/1 on setting 4 (120 amps) on 2mm (or so) steel. At the top you can see a poor bit of welding where I'm trying to join 2 edges - the outrigger is 2mm steel and the section above is less than 1mm - hence the mess. For this I had it on setting 2 (50 amps) but I'm not happy with it! Looked more acceptable once the grinder came out though.
Once again, any pointers appreciated.
