Hi all
Sorry nothing to see here just yet, my plan is to build a nice wood burner for use in the garden.
I have aquired a couple of 19kg propane bottles.
Today I took my first tentative steps and removed the valves I have to say they came off without drama, although a length of scaffold tube with a slot cut in the end was used to initially break the seal on the valve.
Once the seal was broken I simply tapped the valve round, but being a bit of a newby wuss I used a dead mallet and a length of timber, just in case.
Both valves came off dead easy.
I then flushed both bottles out with water and refilled.
Both bottles are now sat outside full of water awaiting a meeting with a cutting wheel at some point.
To be honest I'm scared stiff at making that initial cut.
Do I leave it full of water and risk electric shock from the grinder or empty the water out and risk a flashback.
I have an air compressor, would pumping the bottle through with it upside down with compressed air remove the traces of the gas fumes?
I really want to get going but as mentioned I'm holding myself back worrying about he remaining fumes.
