I had an Esab Compact 160 for 30+ years, it was solid welder, only reason I sold it, I upgraded to an Oxford 330i.
If the model your looking at, is like the one pictured below I'd say try it and buy it, older ESAB units were pretty bulletproof ( built for industrial use), replace the torch liner as well.
