    Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice on tap sets,

I'd like to invest in a good quality set, but I don't know what to look out for, or who are the best manufacturers. Also I saw some swivel taps, what's the difference between them normal taps (excluding the obvious).

Past few days in work I've been tapping stainless, which is alot harder compared to mild steel. Can you get specialist taps for harder metals e.g stainless etc?

Was shown an interesting tap today in work by a co-worker, it was a drill, tap and countersink all in one, are those any good?

    budget around £150

    Thanks

I steer clear of drill taps, normally end up broken within first 10 holes.

I find most of the sets tend not to be as good as individual dormer (or similar quality) ones.

    Hello Jimmy,

I always buy HSS taps, carbon steel taps wear out too quickly.

Spiral flute taps = blind holes
Straight flute taps = through holes

I dont know of other advantages/disadvantages between them.
