suspension bolt spec ?

i plan to refurbish my rear beam on a fwd car , i can find the original sizes listed but not the spec like 8.8 or 10.9

any ideas what i ought to be using ? bolts that hold the beam to the floor , pivots through the bush and the drum brake back plates to the beam...all m10 size

wouldve liked stainless but guessing not suitable?

8.8 are plenty strong enough for suspension work. Higher tensile bolts can be brittle in the wrong setting not always better as they can snap instead of bending.

I've 8.8 without any problems. Some people would say use self-coloured instead of bright zinc plated because of embrittlement, but I don't think it's a problem. Self coloured are cheaper. Always use Coppaslip and replace self-locking nuts with brand new ones.

Selt colour rust like buggery, never had any problems with 8.8 BZP - other than it doesn't last as long as the original bolts plating.

Had a trailer someone had used self colour to hold the four indespension units on with - rusted through inside the hollow section frame, leaving the nut and washer one side, the bolt head and washer the other - units basically held on with rusty nails!

I've just replaced the shockers on my suspension and the original plated ones had rusted. You can always protect them with a waxy coating &c&c

I keep a pot of Waxoyl with a brush in it to "paint" bolts before putting them in, once torqued up I brush some on the head & nut/exposed thread.

I dip woodscrews in Waxoyl, go in a lot easier. Don't do it if staining of the wood would be a problem though.
