supplier for window railings

ive been asked to supply and instal some decorative railings to cover some downstairs windows after a recent break in, the owner wants off the shelf products even though i have told him its probably cheaper to have them made.

havent measured up yet but windows arent big.

anyone know a good supplier?

Google provides loads of sellers, Ebay has a few as well but as you mention they are easy to make and if you buy in some of the fancy stuff from DC Iron and the likes you can turn out some nice work.

They still only stop the amateurs and tend to work by moving the lowlife to a house without them, if they are serious they will get past them, how they are installed is usually the weakest point and a serious prise bar will beat a lot of them.

we both know this, but the customer is always right eh? ive just fitted an alarm, cctv and put heavy duty gates with decent padlocks on for them. while the wife was reviewing my work she mentioned to her husband about the windows and he tends to get big ideas...

even the stuff i have installed over the last few days wont stop a serious outfit from getting in. when they were done a few weeks ago the 2 guys were in and out in under 10 mins, took over 4 grands worth of stuff and even had time to cover their entry. they basically popped the external hinges off the conservatory doors, then on the way out they pressed the doors back in to the frame and runa load of gaffa tape around the edge so from the inside you wouldnt notice the damage

might just price up some scrolls and a load of flat bar and make some up...if all goes well i will be buying a welder towards the end of the week so making something isnt difficult.

as for securing them to the walls, i usually use the same technique for anything that needs to be secure, m10 concrete anchors and then weld the nut to the threaded rod, linish back to flat and whoever wants to get in will need a grinder and will have to make a lot of noise

I've used Bexhill steelworks - a big range of decorative stuff like finials, fencing components,,decorative panels etc - I made up a gate, a bit of fencing and some metal posts with bits from them and it looks a treat.
