With the impending Great Dorset steam fair, had a few steam engine bits and pieces to knock up.
I enjoy doing them, always poses a bit of a challenge.
I had to make two jib tie rods.
If your not familiar, they are the two rods that tie the front of the jib to the main engine.
No press tooling to suit the sizes i needed to bend, so had to knock some up.
200x75 rsa, holes punched through, and 30mm diameter bms bar welded through, with a couple of bits added to stop the bottom pushing out.
Top tool long enough to allow the job to be folded right up. A piece of 1-3/8" bright bar, welded to a pice of 200mm thick flatbar.
The 1-3/8" diameter is to suit the internal size that i needed.
The bottom tool is spaced to allow the top tool throgh, with the thickness of the plate either side.
