Stainless grind and polish weld in one go

After reading the thread about removing the discolouration from stainless welds I thought you might like to check out thisdisc from a Ripon firm,
It's called the Rapid Combi Disd (RCD) dresses the weld and polishes on one operation, I have one I was given but have not yet used it, I believe they come in three grades . Check out the link it could save you a lot of time !!

Well that`ll be them broke then, with that free sample button available. It looks like a multi grade flap disc type thing, be interesting to see the results. The recommended speed is a bit low, not suitable for standard angle grinders ideally by the looks of it.

Interesting, however it is far from easy ensuring the wheel doesn't leave circular marks in the material. (and I do this for a living)

We use 5" Grinders with a 60grit zircon disc to remove the weld, and then dress the grain back in with a 60grit scotchbright/zircon flap wheel

Just looks like an ordinary flap disc to me (once you have got past the smoke and mirrors)

The finitube and finiteasy are good machines. Used them both (not mine). Very expensive so i believe.

Interesting disc.
It not only makes a neat straight edge with a handheld tool (yellow arrow), it actually adds material to turn a round bead into a sharp corner (red arrow)! Now that's impressive.

Given the price of these discs i suspect they need to give samples away to get people to try 'em- not seen them for less than a tenner each anywhere. Those tube finishing machines are very spendy for what they are but relatively easy to justify given the time savings, can't see those flap wheels being 10 times better/faster/easier than a zircon disc followed by surface conditioning myself

I've seen several demos of these systems over the years, quite apart from the cost of the flapdisk, users need to be aware an ordinary grinder running at 11000 rpm is no use at all, the speed is critical to the performance and longevity of the disk, and some of these companies will happily sell you a very overpriced slow running machine.
I agree with hotrodder, based on many years experience, I'll stick to using conventional surface conditioning methods

Its also changed the whole tube from mill finish to brushed. Excellent. I'll have 50

I had to check that one out. 3m Make them, we had some samples, and scrounge them when the rep comes in, great but not worth the money, its like a bit of scotchbrite on a disc. Have some of a better version, but like a flap disc but flat but with about 12mm of a fine grain on them but that moves with the contours in the metal. the name escapes me...
finitube polisher is a great bit of kit, but those powerfiles are no substitute of for a decent weld round the tube

Free disc arrived today, Seems like a solid well made item. I ordered the medium grade 5".Just looking to borrow a slower running machine to give it a proper test,
