Good day to you all from sunny South Africa,
Can somebody please help me, I want to build my own Spot Welder, it must be able to weld up to 16 gauge steel max.
In the Popular Machanics Handbook set dated from 1972 - 1989 there is a article about a homebuild S. Welder, but if I could help it I would not want to wind my own transformer.
I am building a LOCOST, that is a "LOTUS 7 " lookalike.
1. Someone have told me that one can build a Spot Welder using the "magnatron" off an old Microwave oven.
2. Can I use an old working Arc Welder 200 amps 230 volts ( Transformer )for this application?
3. The welder must have a throat "arms" off at least 12" (300mm).
Thank you all,
Pieter Kleynhans
