My daughter's just had 3.8 kW of pv's fitted. I asked the fitters about mounting the panels - they showed me the stainless wood screw and some rubber bush fittings. I had my reservations but was reassured it would be fine.
Well, the cowboys fitted the whole lot before lunchtime today, when I got here the first thing I noticed was they werent flat on the roof - the lower end panels were kicking up. Closer inspection (from the ground) revealed the wood screw were mostly drunken - screwed in at all angles. Inspection in the loft has revealed empty holes (with some gunge in - not the ct1 they promised to be using), screws splitting the sides of some of the rafters, torn felt.
I do confess I should have refused to let them use these fixings, bearing in mind the trusses are only inch and a half pre fabbed jobs, but I at least expected they would pilot drill the holes straight. The standard of workmanship beggars belief.
Anyone with any experience of this? My feeling is I now ask them to remove the lot, or do I let them replace the rails with something better, and make good the holes they've drilled?
