Well, strictly speaking a Smart's. J Smart Mfg. Co. Brockville. A Canadian vice by all accounts so a rare old thing in not bad nick.
It has a quick release feature and wouldn't budge despite the handle turning freely. Rescued it from a shed years ago and today, finally decided to see what I've got and if it's not dead, tart it up.
Relieved to discover the half nut is actually in very good condition. Must have been a mis-set release lever.
That's all there is to it. Came apart ok, now soaking in a citric dip...
