Other than using various sized small “blocks” of steel held in the vice, what do you guys find useful for small tight (90 degree) forging jobs?
This week while working with a 120mm length of 25mm wide flat bar to form a rectangle box, I found it was difficult using just the vice after the first two 90 degree bends had been formed.
So, after forging the square “C” shape I decided to weld the final side on to complete the rectangle loop. My original intension had been to complete the rectangle using just the hammer & vice and the hot piece of steel. After a bit of grinding & welding, the total time is increased quite a bit.
