Afternoon gents,
Recently brought myself a 2nd hand arc welder. Foolishly I didn't test the unit as I was in a rush when collecting but I was assured the unit was tested and working fine.
Brought myself a fresh pack of BOC 7018 3.2 mm electrodes and fired her up. Tried 110V first and the electrode will strike up but not maintain an arc. As I increased the amperage it still wouldn't weld and just kept tripping the transformer.
Switched over to 230V which returned pretty much the same results, eventually blowing the 13a fuse. The guy I brought it off is happy to give me my money back but I just want a second opinion on whether the unit is actually faulty. Any ideas?
