Hello all,
I have a new project and am not sure where to start.
I got a single seat hammock and need to build a stand
/ support for it. I looked online and they are very expensive. At that
price (200 euros+ without shipping) I would prefer to build it myself.
A wood working friend told me to steam planks of wood and shape
them into a semi circle then glue them together in a jig. To do this I
would need to build a steamer and jig, not especially difficult but I
just dont have the room.
So metal it is then!
Any pointers (this will be the first project I have that needs to be safe)
on how I can do this? I thought of welding square tube sections to form
a semi circle but I am sure there are nicer ways of doing this.
Ideally it should support 120kg and be about 2m high (the hammock is about 1.5m
high and I would like it about 50 cm off the ground).
I do not have the means to bend a large tube witch is the way I would go if I knew how
to do such bending and had the tools for it.
any advice or design ideas are most welcome.
Thanks,
K.
