Hello, Would someone please briefly list advantages/disadvantages of using silicon bronze wire on a vintage vehicle restoroation? I have to scab in large body panels and fill rust pinholes with no access to the backside. Thank you very much, Dennis
NO advantages if it's an old vehicle. It's extremely expensive & only required on modern 'Boron', high stress materials. It's actually Copper Silicon wire: CuSi3 & this is used on the modern stuff because it has a lower melting point that doesn't damage the materials high stress properties. Just use standard mild steel wire.
