Short measure

Please tell me I'm not the only person to have shortened their steel ruler with a foot operated Guillotine?

Only a couple of mm off the end, but....

I melted my tape measure a few years back with the mig torch was gutted

a lad at work about ten years back shortened his finger tips on the guillotine

Caught my verniers in power feed of my small lathe . . . internal measurement is a bit off now . . . and I keep the lathe bench a lot tidier now!

Too many. Worst was brand new 10m fatmax, stanley knife nicked it first use, lasted half a day

In the 80's I chopped off the end of the saw operators tape measure with the iron worker. He was not very happy and chased me around the factory waving a chunk of angle iron!

As I recall long enough to do me damage! I was running away at the time, back then if he had caught up with me, I would have ended up with a bruise or two

I think I may have told this story on here before but here goes anyway, a number of years ago we had a big batch of custom sized gates to make, I measured each one up and wrote it out, one of the other lads got the task of making them, a few days later came to start hanging them, first one on and it's 4 or 5" short, thought we had the wrong gate but he checked and no it was the right one. I remeasured the opening and it was as id written down, measured the gate and its 5" short, says to tbe other lad what's happened here and he's no idea, checked another few gates and all 5" short, he reckons they can't be and measures one I've just measured and says no that ones spot on, looked at his tape and sure enough it was showing a different length to mine. At this point I'm totally confused until he announces he'd cut the end of his tape with a grinder and pop riveted the end back on but it wasn't a problem, I launched the dam tape along the yard, not sure if it's landed yet or not as I was pretty ****** off.

I lent my chop saw to a mate and the first piece he cut he managed to do his tape as well, hooked it over the end and cut straight through at 12" and the ends recoiled into the body. He had the foot piece to cut the rest of his sections with though.
