Right, so I've taken (some of) the advice from members here, and bought a gas MIG setup:
Migmate 150 turbo (I'm not going to apologise - it's a damn-site more powerful than the low-low budget gasless thingy I thought I'd be getting);
1 each of disposable and refillable bottle regulators;
auto-darkening mask;
two full reels of .8 wire;
5 new tips (tell me what they are, please);
1 new shroud (and what's one of those, while we're at it?);
a full mini-bottle of CO2;
two full (big, pub-style) refillable bottles of CO2
So I should be ready to go with that lot, yes?
£100 all-in, if it's important - so about the price of the bottles and gas alone, otherwise?
I'll have the help of an experienced friend in a weekend or two, to get me going, but first I need some metal for my project (car sills, of course), and for practicing on.
SO: Where on earth do I buy sheet metal from?
Is there a cheap and reliable online shop with fast delivery, or is there somewhere (in the Chester area if possible) where I can call and collect?
I'm told I need some 1.2 or 1.5mm thickness for the car, and I might as well practice on the same stuff, in order to show willingness to my friend when we meet for a further lesson.
Thanks,
Carl
