Greetings, I thought I'd give you my views on the Supermig 140 I've just purchased for £200
Firstly, the negatives.
The disposable bottle regulator which came with it actually broke internally after being done up quite tightly (not really tight enough to have broken a good regulator imho, and it's the 3rd one I've owned). A1PlantSales who I bought it from actually sent me a new regulator no questions asked, and that arrived 2 days later, which I'm quite impressed by!
The earth clamp is one of the rubbishy crocodile clip ones so I've swapped it for a good one.
The plate at the back doesn't easily support the pub co2 bottle which I have, but I've managed to get it stable by doing up a strap really tightly, so I can wheel it about OK now.
The last thing is that the wheels are a terribly poor fit, with the axle being about 2 inches too long!
Having said all of that, I'm quite pleased with how it's welding. I particularly like it with 0.6mm wire. The reel that came with it was tiny, and ran out quite quickly, so I'm on a 5kg reel of 0.8 at the moment, which is mainly suitable for the highest setting as far as I can tell. I'm not sure that the wire feed motor is as strong as it could be for 5kg reels, so I might look at getting an intermediate size of reel or something.
I haven't done much serious work with it, and I'm not an experienced welder, but this is my 3rd machine, and easily the best, the others being a 90 amp Draper MIG Weld and a NuMig135.
Does anyone else have this machine, and concur, disagree or have any opinion on it?
Cheers. Tom.
