We were over the bay of Biscay at 37,000 feet, this was well to the east and looked to be around the limits of the earth’s atmosphere, presumably something launched to go to space.
Very unusually shaped halo behind it

That makes sense that it was launched from the US given where it was.
I’m surprised though that it was still in the earths atmosphere over Central Europe, just shows how fast it was going for that to be the case, suppose it has to be at a very shallow angle when it does go into space not to escape earths gravity.

Our local news said it was actually the suns reflection off the frozen fuel crystals released by the rocket that could be seen.
