I will come up with a reason for the 7, at the moment the idea escapes me. I seriously need to reorganise the workshop and S hooks on the ceiling is the only space left, even if it's only temporary.
First off I put a bend into some 1/4" rod (I have about a kilometre of the stuff!). I have started to use the oxy-actylene kit for these smaller projects because, with the gas-saver, it is super quick and easy compared to a forge.
The big post leg vice is great for this but the stick out is huge and awkward (hence the "need" for a new bench mounting smaller version). I may even stick a spare smaller post leg vice outside for these longer workpieces.
Squish the ends flat for a mounting hole.
Drilled and countersunk.
Up, up and away.
I was given a ton of little S hooks and there are a few bulky items I need to have "on hand" so that I can get to them quickly and resist the temptation to go without. That's a motorcycle helmet bag with my welding helmet and gloves in it. Curiously, the rest also appears to be PPE and I have a few more items like that to go up there also.
No excuse now and some recent work with a chipping hammer and cold chisel reminded me I really ought to wear ear defenders a lot more often than I recently have.
