Rotabroach Cutters

I have a contract starting soon where we will be drilling hundreds of holes 30mm diameter through 45 mm thick S355 plate.
I cannot decide on standard cutters or M42 cutters or TCT cutters.
Any of you guys had experience in these higher grade cutters

Rotabroach bits will work but it will be a slow process, might be cheaper to contract it out........just a thought. Maybe waterjet may work although I have no experience of this.

I have used both, but only on hardox.......slowest speed you can get and plenty of cutting fluid.

The tct ones are nice, more like milling cutters with the swarf ...a bit pricey though. The flutes are almost straight.

The m42 ones are ok as well, but mostly use tct on the hard stuff.

If your drilling that many, i would buy one of each, and test it for myself - a little bit of an investigation.

From experience i would tend to go with M42 cutters.

I,ve used the tct and normal cutters i found the tct cutters are best for thick or hard steel best used with a slow speed machine and plenty of cutting fluid.
I would use tct will do job just fine.

You will probably end up break them before they blunt, if you are using a mag drill anyway.
