Does any one know of places that sell the Roberts drive wood screws ? They have an indented square in the head instead of a slot or a Philips/ Pozi or star drive hole for you to insert the square driver in.
They are fantastic for it's easy to use them unsupported , one handed in drill drivers through any angle of 360 degrees with out them falling off the driver tip.
We have a had a thousand 4mm x 65 mm such screws as a trial to see how us doddery old guys in our Men's Shed get on with them .. consensus is let's migrate to only square drive wood screws we've used 600 and not messed up the only driver tip we've been using ( I got six just incase )
With Poizi drive hardened head screws the old boys were ruining at least one quality ( CK ) tip per day on less than 50 screw insertions into soft pine .…. One day in particular stands out in my mind when one guy a 83 yr old former coal mine electrician wrecked six in just under an hour before he'd used up our entire stock. At nearly £1.20 each it's not something we want to keep happening . He didn't have any problems with Robertson driver tip or the screws .
I've found a place on eBay ( the only one as far as I can see) but they only have two sizes , I also have contact with squarescrew.co.uk , again they too only have a very limited stock range .
I went into eBay Canada ..found them by the shed load in the sizes & tub quantities we want (All made in China like our trial packs ) but the prices are extortionate especially when you see they are asking for $20 Canadian or more per pack, for I only paid £15 inc VAT per 500 tub for mine .
