I recently picked up a Record 36p for not a lot of money. It's generally in good condition with no obvious signs of abuse, just a covering of surface rust. However, the sliding jaw sits 2/3mm lower than the fixed jaw so presumably something isn't right. I don't imagine that these vices were made this way although it seems to be a fairly common issue, so is there a weakness somewhere? If so what's the best way to go about straightening everything up? Thanks for any advice and here are a couple of photographs.
