    Hi Guys

so I am restoring a classic 1962 Vespa scooter,

its as sound as the day it left the factory,

so I set about stripping the paint as it had been over painted many times with some mega paint stripper (the proper stuff, SynStryp)

well all the new ish paint comes off but it struggles to remove the original top coat and what it does do is leave the primer behind,

thats not a bad thing as its a rust looking brown (no its not rust lol)

so it gets me thinking, why not leave it and hit it with some clear

so to my question, all the Rat look cars or bikes ive seen done, as soon as clear goes on them it changes the baise

so if it was just bare metal with rust, as the rust is dry it looks light in colour (what i Like)
when the clear hits the rust, it darkens it,

ive seen that happen if using wax as the only protection

even though mine is in a rust looking primer, with lots of ereas in bare metal, I want to keep the light brown colour I have but want a protective coat over the top

    what should I use ???

I think that as soon as you hit light brown rust with anything to coat it it will go dark brown.

Maybe @Shox Dr could give some ideas, I think he did something like that to his truck or maybe it is just rusty?
