Maybe? I'm not sure what finnish the carbide cutter will leave in aluminium?So only put one insert in it? It's a bit over 6" diameter...

You can get inserts specifically for ally, in a variety of shapes

I don't think the finish would be good enough for a cylinder head or block,As stated above maybe by running it with just one insert in would do the job but the cutter would have to be over 150mm in diameter to skim in one hit.Interested to know why? Ive got a 50mm facemill and with H01 inserts the finish is excellent.
