putting tyres on wheels

right, i have a need to take tyres off the alfa, and put them on the megane...

so the plan is, take rear wheels off the alfa, throw them in the renault and go to get tracking done and both front tyres changed to the ones on the afla wheels...this will leave me with 2 nice newish tyres on the megane and 2 bare alfa wheels (no one local will put the duff tyres back on wheels for me no matter how much i offer them) and im not buying part worns for a car cant roll

i have a spare wheel that will go on the alfa so thats one corner sorted...but still leaves me with one corner with no tyre on the wheel...i have a bald tyre the right size in the garden that is good enough to hold pressure (i only need to be able to put the alfa back on the floor and be able to drag it onto a trailer if needs be) so was thinking of putting that on to get the alfa off the stands for when i inevitably need to use the stands for the megane...

need to know the easiest way to get the tyre on the wheel so i can inflate it and get the wheel back on the car?

Rubber hammer, soap, ratchet strap around it to get it against the rim then air it up.....or easy start and a match :-)

well i have the rubber mallet, soap and a rathcet strap...i also have easy start and a blowtorch...

so basically, beat the tyre onto the rim...wrap the strap around the tyre and tighten down to get the bead to seal then fill it?

just use some broad levers, they are not hard to get back on at all, just make sure the tyre seal enters the recess in the rim at the opposite side the levers or you will struggle

do you have a compressor to inflate again ? if so remove the valve and inflate, gives a better flow of air to pop back onto rim

dont forget to take the Valve insert out the valve case, then inflate it-- no retriction for smaller compressors, blow it up take tyre inflator off the valve body, insert valve core, continue inflating up to working pressure.

makes life a lot easier

I remember Jeremy clarkson up in Iceland I think it was, they were off road running very very soft tyres that sometimes came off the rim, Lighter fuel, and a match had them back on in an instant--- never tried it myself.

i only have a small tyre inflator, will that be a problem? i do have a can of easy start and a flame though and im not afraid of trying it out if needs be..infact it think i would like to try it just to see it work

a small tyre inflator wont put a tyre back on the rim
