According to their website, IABCO hints that their wire is made in Germany. Would be interesting to get a country of origin. For European made wire that would be very cheap. Id pay about 150+VAT for an equivalent from my supplier.
I had to weld a load of 4mm corten plate last year and investigated what wire I'd need. The answer I was given was that up to about 4mm, there is enough dilution of the weld pool that ordinary wire would work fine, and it certainly seems to have worked. The worry was that it would rust differently to the paarent metal and look wrong, but a year on the customer tells me everything is hunky dory. It was a stove built to live outdoors inciddentally.
