Is anyone on your side of the pond familiar with these machines? They are made in Italy. I am in the process of repairing one and am in need of a source of parts.
Which parts are you looking for? Could you pop a photo up for identification. I had a little look around the internet and some parts look similar to the Cebora welders.
Thanks Malcom. I have found a couple of places that seem to have consumables. However, the critical part I need is a plastic base or foundation which mounts in a rectangular hole in the vertical divider between the transformer side and the wire spool side of the machine. On one side is mounted the wire feed motor and on the other is mounted the feed tension roller. The internal end of the MIG gun liner is pinch mounted to the base as well. I am afraid this would be a factory order part.
I will see if I can get a picture to post. I have glued the 6 pieces of the base together and reassembled the welder. It make sparks but does not feed reliably. I probably need to replace the tensioner, gun liner, contact tip etc. The unit belongs to a friend. If it were mine - well it would not be for long. My Hobart HH180 is just a bit more robust
If it is the same as the Cebora part it might look like this. Certainly the reel mount in a photo I saw looked Cebora like.
If it is the right part it might also be available in the States (rebadged as Snap On maybe). Otherwise weldequip might post one over if you PM or email him.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! That is the part. I can't believe that Snap On would sell such a welder. They are known for excellent hand tools. Let me see who carries Snap On repair parts. Otherwise... my friend is an expatriate Brit. He can probably have someone in the UK source one and sent it to him - if he wants to spend 25 pounds for a 25 farthing part.
I did a quick search on "Snap-On 130 MIG Wire Feed Assembly" and found a site which has the part. They state: "fits Daytona MIG models 848 MIG 140, Pocket Turbo model 886, Revolution model 887, and Revolution Combi model 888. Also fits Astropower 110 and 130, Marquette M12179 and M12183, NAPA models 83-317, 83-319, 83-363, Matco WFW12179, some MAC Tools models and Snap-On MB120A & MB135."
So it looks like anyone making a low cost MIG machine uses this same part. Amazing!
any chance someone knows where i can find the rest of that assembly?
i got a astro mig 130 at a yard sale for 50 canadian dollars, it was working great, then the plastic started falling apart. we got a steal liner for it and JB-welded the rest of it back together and it was working great, till the gear striped. not the gear on the motor thats metal, and not the gear on the roller guide either. the middle gear, and i cant find it anywhere online. i'd like to buy the hole peace, motor and all, cause my motor wines.
it would be a sin to throw the thing away just cause the gears stripped. maybe i can put an after market replacement 'wire feed assembly' on it?
No they're not. They're known for selling moderately good tools at three times the price of the real quality makers, just to cover the lifetime 'warranty'. So what happens is you break your screwdriver, SnapOn 'give' you a new one... except they don't 'give' you anything, you've already paid for it.
I have a SnapOff 150A MIG set in my garage; it's not mine, it belongs to a mate. I suspect it is a rebadged Cebora but it has a fixed torch, only takes small spools and I can pick it up with one hand. It's not an inverter set either.
Mate told me what he'd paid for it, I had to suppress a guffaw
