I have this old mig that Ive had for over 31 years from new now. Ive lost the manual/parts diagram/specifications for it and I cant remember exactly what amperage/make it is.
Its finaly started playing up after all these years and I may need to get some spares for it
Can anyone tell me what the manufacturer is?
It was made in West Germany.
I purchased it from a supplier that is long gone.
It wasn't a cheap plant to buy, I chopped in a Kempi ( that I bought brand new from the same supplier only a month earlier) that burnt out due to a melted in-line fuse, and gave them 250 quid ontop.
From memory it was around 1200/1400 quid in '89/'90.
The good thing is it's a transformer based machine so apart from the 2 transformers, the other components are mainly standard switches, contactor and capacitors.
Which can be purchased after matching, all you really need a wiring diagram and a multimeter.
That's a good-looking machine, solidly built and with some good features - such as the capacitor bank and the nine power ranges.
What problems are you seeing ?
I would start with checking all the connections inside, look for loose, burnt, or corroded joints and check the tightness of all push-on spade tags.
Measure the torch-tip to earth clamp voltage, it should rise smoothly from 14v to maybe 35v DC as you click up through the power ranges.
