One of the RCDs our barn keeps tripping - not in use but generally overnight or when I'm not using it. I'm almost certain it's something on the socket circuit but the only things that run permanently are a little CCTV thing and a normal freezer. Never tripped it when welding / grinding / using other power tools etc. I've got a feeling it's to do with humidity as the floor and walls can get a lot of condensation in places when the temperature jumps quickly (say 0C one day and a damp 10C next day).
Anyway, I might be several days between opening the place up, so it's hard to pin point when the issue is happening (and also a risk to the freezer full of meat!) so I was looking at fitting some sort of plug that alarms when there is a power cut. I don't need a full blown 120dB burglar alarm type siren that wakes us in the dead of night, just something I can hear from outside so I know the power is off. I've googled all sorts of stuff and not come up with a cheap option so I'm thinking the best option is probably just stick a temperature alarm in the freezer set at around -10C? Any other thoughts?
Incidentally, I have a sparky lined up to come and check the place over but a) he's very busy and b) it's such an intermittent fault it might be hard to trace so I thought I'd try and narrow it down.
