Hello again, has been a while, just recapping my problems and if anyone can give some advice. My 4x4 dual cab has had repairs to roof both sides at the rear, on the rounded edge down to the gutter?/sill?, filler was used to finalise the job, looked good for 18months then the sections cracked right through the filler and paint, leaving long cracks, looks bad. My mistake obviously did something wrong, like not seam welding the whole piece in, dimensions are around about 24 x 4 inches where roof racks cracked the sills and rust got into the roof.
What I need help with, after I cut out the repair sections and start anew, do I hole punch the top and then plug weld a section in, then weld a new piece in from a donor door. When finished welding do I spray a coat of anti rust colgal etc on the new weld? then remove the colgal for filler? etc.
Got a 150 Mig, gas/gasless, mainly use flux core, due to rental costs, have read it's best to use Gas.
Full seam welds are the best way or can I weld small sections leaving gaps?. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Waz
