I am having trouble getting good penetration welding 3mm sheet to sheet on an overlap joint, it only seems to stick onto the new piece of metal - the other being a VW camper chassis section, as soon as I remove the G clamps or bang the metal any tacks I have made pop off
I have an SIP 130 turbo, with the power on Max and the wire feed at approx 50%, the gas is also turned up so I can hear it well in my ears
could it be my welder? - it is probably 5 years old but not had that much use.
It seems like there is not enough power getting through to melt the steel,
I have not weldied anything more than 1.5mm for many years but when I did I remember it being very easy but this was on a professional welder.
can any one give me any idea's on what to change / do
Thanks!
