How do you mean? You can do a variation of it if you like. I'd only do it though if you can absolutely guarentee the latch falls snugly into tabs because if there's any slop the gate's will have quite a bit or play in/out. Your more likely guarenteed
sucess if you do it the regular way with the latch falling over the top.
