Just binned my BOC account for Oxy Acetylene. Got an Albee rent free Acetylene cylinder from @armalites a while ago. I got a "Trade" size rent free Oxygen cylinder from Adams Gas to go with it. Only problem is that these cylinders are the wrong shape and size to fit in the BOC Portapak trolley that I already had. I bought a supposedly correct size welding trolley for the new cylinders from ebay.
With the cylinders loaded, it looks that there isn't much/any room for any of the welding kit, especially not the economiser that I had fitted on my BOC trolley.
After some cutting and shutting and letting in of some more of the 1" steel tube that the trolley was made of, it looks like this:
Here it is after I'd sprayed some red paint on it and fitted the bits and pieces to it.
the steel box on the back came from the old BOC trolley
The only change I made to the economiser was to make a couple of custom unions from some brass billet. The Acetylene cylinder has a built in single stage reg which doesn't come with a line pressure guage, so I fitted this one from an old regulator.
the whole thing was a bit more work than I had originally planned on, but has at least stopped BOC taking the p**s with a more than £200 annual cylinder rent for something that I don't use a lot, but like lots of our tools, "when you need it , you need it"
