Really sorry for the delay, work just went mental and before I knew it - it's February already!
First off - I have at last had the electrician in to set up the 16A supply, had to try the unit on full to ensure everything was okay and it tripped the 16A, he put an 18A slow blow trip in and one 2” weld okay went to start the second and it tripped on start up.
With a tester on the line the welder throws out just over 18A spike on start then drops right down so will blow the trip – apparently it needs a 20A ‘D’ type trip to avoid this. Means absolutely nothing to me but Gary came back and changed it and everything is good - so bear this in mind when shopping for bits to wire it up in your garage / shed ;-)
Well what can I say other than "suitably impressed" Have used the set in anger at close to max for one 200 x 100 15mm thick angle frame (don't ask - it was a nightmare) without a hitch, the thing that really strikes me with this set over the others I have used is how 'smooth' it is to use and the lightness of the torch makes long sessions a breeze. Couple of quick and dirty iphone shot of a gate this morning
One addition to the set which for me is a must as I hate it when the edges of the paint get chipped (have passed on the info to OWS) for a few penny's add a little rubber trim to the leading edge of the lid:
It may not be the cheapest set on the market and I am just a self taught welder but for me quality / usability and ease of use far exceed what I have used in the past and I can only give praise where praise is due, one more 'under the hood' shot just 'because' lol
