Well firstly this is silly. Surley there should be a tec arc section as they make the oxfords portamigs and a few others... but hey ho.
Right.. well here we go. All i can say is im so glad that i started off with a smaller hobby welder (sealey supermig 180) all those times the wire feed was terrible andbthe torch was too short and then the very next day i went to use it with no settings changed at sll and it was rubbish.. actually what am i talking about. Lol
So the decision was made to order a 240-1 just because it gave me scope to do bigger stuff when i have to ans still keep the 20amp minimum for body work. I placed my order from welding supplies direct. Tom orrow is quite simply a refreshing change to the norm. Actually advised me on the correct gear actually saving me money and his customer service is brilliant,if he says it will be with you next day.. bang its there.brilliant so all sorted getting me up to speed. So i booked and paid for it.
Well couple of days my torch mask n regulator turnt up.. even those where a million times better that whst i had. I couldn't belive how comfortable the torch was and having 4m means im not draggung the welder everything n proping it up on a tool box. (Dodgy i know).
Then about a week went by and a big heavy green machine arrived. Yes i was very very happy un picked it all and bolted the wheels on... lifted the lid... quite simply explicit. The wire feed is immense.
Took a few pics sent to the mrs obviously but noticed i didnt have the spotweld timer extra installed.
So rang tom that exact day he held hid hand up straight off. Said he would sort it with tec arc.
I get a phone call at 3pm saying hes sending me out the correct circuit board with the timer.. straight away im impressed.
So couple of days and shes home all wired up (changing that board was pretty easy)
Fired her up and again explicit... the welds are so smooth. Honestly im not bulling you everything is just so much better.
So the mini is cracking on brilliant. New floor in loads of little bits n bobs
Made/adapted a motorised roll over jig as i needed the welds to hold and they blooming did. As i ballsed up n had to grind them off first time. All tip top.
Then about a year of having the machine belive it or not a oxford welder actually had a problem...
The spot timer packed up... still welder as beautifully as before but the spot timer didnt cut out.
So poor tom got a message on here. He was spot on put me in touch with tech arc. I sent off the pcb. 48 hours a repaird board in my hand... had to do a few checks on the machine but nothing found.
So cracked on again re fitting the repaired board and all good again for 10 or so plug welds n then same thing happened it didnt cut out. Very annoying i can tell you.
So back on the blower to tom/tec arc o hsd a little moan this time. So i sent the board off again. This time tec arc whete obviously silly busy it took a week to sort out. But back in my hand re fitted it. 10 or so plug welds again poof....
So now im miffed. Phoned tom he was like its a return to tec arc for a diagnosis. So wrapped her up tom got it collected and another week goes by to be told the machine is perfect. Nothing is wrong. Its the torch... lol
So back on the phone to tom and he did sort me out with a bit of a deal on a new binzel mb15 4m torch and so far so good.
So people i can 100% recommend a oxford welder.... they are just quality. Ill try n post some pics..
