can you get replacement without buying the makers own.
tool cheap enough but the blades are tad expensive.

I can recommend Saxton, think they are on ebay but have their own site as well - not Aldi (good value when available)offer cheap but not bad for general use. If you have a couple of particular cutters or blades you use a lot I would buy Fein or Bosch, they do last longer.

I have an einhell one excellent bit of kit gets used daily had it for about a year! About 6 months ago I used it to cut 2 sheets of 3/4 ply in half because that was the only saw I had! And apart from getting very warm and taking a while it got me out of the brown smelly stuff! Very versatile tool!

I have a Makita cordless one and its just unbeatable at certain jobs like weird little notches, I've used it loads since I got it, probably paid for itself in saved labour time. You can buy aftermarket blades for them from all sorts of places,just check what arbor the one you're buying uses as some aren't universal.

get the blades from saxton u wont find any cheaper and good quality if u buy a fair few u can get them for 3 quid each there far more superior than branded names i use there japanese blades on wood and plastic

thanks for the replies.
I need one mainly just clear the grouting out near the cupboard ends so that I can replace them with new.
so I don't really need an expensive one but a good blade not one that will wear out in 5 minutes.I've got a a large saw bench,jig saw,reciprocating saw and a little electric hand saw.(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerplus...049?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item418b823ee9)
this what I was discussing earlier in another post painting laminate wood.
I was going to replace the whole units but the wife want to keep the oak doors.
she doesn't like the idea of replacing them with vinyl coated molded wood.
I don't mind it'll save me a few grand

I have one - forget which brand, though it was a cheapy one. I don't use it very often, but it's one of those tools that is just perfect for fiddly jobs that would be a real pain with a bigger tool.

Just looked and the cheapest seems to be the one Argos do for £30.

Also just noticed on the B and Q site that they have the Ryobi 'dremmel' type tool for £25, which seems good value. I use my Dremmel loads.

I have used a Fein before , borrowed from a builder freind while putting in the heating system on one of his jobs , very handy bit of kit , he uses it daily for allsorts of jobs !

I have a 110v fein, Blades are virtually interchangable between makes,I just last week bought some Aldi blades in a kit, especially for grouting etc, The ones with tungsten carbide chips brazed around the edges, Excellent quality and on offer at £3-99, For any other blades I buy Saxton as mentioned above,

I have (or have had, some got sold ) several of the Bosch unit that's usually around £80. The tools seem to be a universal fitting (or at least, they come punched with locating holes for several different standards).
The Bosch ones are prone to dying suddenly for no apparent reason; the reason is poor windings in the motors. Sometimes you can take them apart and reterminate when the wires have snapped, sometimes you can't... but I think it's the reason you see so many sold as 'spares or repair' on Ebay. I used to buy them for buttons and sell them on once fixed but now there are so many about it's not worth it.

good idea but that would make a mess.
anyway I'v bought the wolf one. it'll always be handy if not me but to my two son's.

i dont think u get what i mean. use one of the old blades of the multitool and braze a diamond segment on to it it doesnt spin it oscilates

I have a Skil one, not bad at the price, equivalent of £40. If it lasts as well as their triangle sander, I will be happy. Had that for several years.....7?
And the multi version comes with a trangle pad.

well I've just cancelled the order.
they aren't posting it till the 31st of march! b*gger that I need it before then
what I don't get is that the same item on ebay post with in a couple of days but on Amazon nearly a month both from the same shop.
has any dealt on amazon and request refund and if so how long did it take to get your money back?

I got the Fein some years back-think it was the only one about then-got it in a steel case with loadsa thingys in it. Its paid for itself as its so handy at times, precise fine cuts in wood/laminates/plastics/sheetmetal etc.
Fwiw, the original reason I got it was that I could trim the bottom of doors in situ, taking the doors off in the house I was working in was a mega pain and time consuming.

Fein Multimaster for me, great bit of kit.

I did see a youtube video a while back where one guy made new blades from a cheap handsaw - he sprayed an existing blade template onto the handsaw and then cut them out of the handsaw blade and got about 10 or so blades from one handsaw.
