Another Awsome looking lid to rival the esab sentinel. This one is the optrel Vega view 2.5. Just spotted it on the Internet. Don't know a great deal about it other than it looks awesome.
The VegaView is a cracking helmet, but no where near the Sentinel to be honest. Price wise, about the same, but the Sentinel is a 5-13 lid, the Vega is just 8-12.
Sentinel has touch screen settings (hopefully hold up to a fair bit of abuse), where as the Optrel is standard 'knob on the side' adjustment.
Yes, I am being a bit ESAB biased, but being a main dealer for both, I'd still rate the Sentinel in this circumstance... and yes, I've owned both too.
However, the new Optrel Panoramaxx is a sight to behold. Should be getting our first unit in a week or so, so will give a review of that.... price wise though... £300+

VERY!!! I'll talk to the powers that be and be in touch.Cheers.. we do try. However, on our website we are advised to sell at a set price.. so keeps the playing field fair. However, we can offer slightly better prices over the phone if you are ever interested.
I've an Optrel and wouldn't hesitate about buying another then it fails. (Must be 8yrs old now)
Although I'd have to try the Panorama before I bought one, as the 'goggle' type lens reduces the veiwing area and no doubt just where you want to see.
I think it looks awful. It does look good View attachment 109304
Have an E684 and it is a superb lid but seriously thinking about the Panoramaxx as it has all the features of the E484 , the light state of the Vega and the nose guard looks like it may help for misting.
Optrel says that the field of view is enhanced with the goggle style, likely because it is closer to your eyes than the normal style. That kind of makes sense and they actually have a brochure you can download and cut out the shape and place on your face to see what it looks like. Not done it myself but if you find a quiet room so you don't look like a div it may be worth a try
My worries about it are that I wear specs and I wonder if the lens would be too close and also the nose guard may interfere with specs. Sadly no one local to me stocks them so no chance of me having a test![]()
I'm not keen on controls on the outside of a helmet. Soooo easily knocked and damaged.
Having owned an Optrel and an Esab in the past and since both had battery failure and ended up in the bin, I now would only buy a helmet powered
by replaceable button cells. Solar charged cells are fine if kept in daylight and used every day (ish) but for now I'll stick with my Speedglass 100V.

The Optrel Vegaview uses replaceable batteries.
Does it? The official vid I watched, looked like it was integrated
