Today I got the first play with a new-to-me Transarc DC130.
Damn near put my back out carrying it from the courier's van to the workshop, and had to put it down, go in and get a sack truck for the remaining distance. Sod it, I could feel my back going...
Anyway...
Rods are INE 6013.
70A to the rear and 100A to the front, with DCEN...
(that bit to the left was where the control knob got nudged and I'd tried to start it at 40A)
70A to the rear and 100A to the front, DCEP...
It's hard to tell from the pics, but in actuality, the DCEP beads are much smoother and flatter.
In both configurations, the difference in laying down a bead was much, much better than the Sealey buzzbox, but since that's improved beyond recognition in the past few days, it's still a worthwhile fall-back, if this turned its toes up.
I think I'm going to enjoy blasting some metal with this little unit, and if I can be bothered with argon rental, I'll give TIG a go, but I'm not overly fussed about that.
