One gas fits all ???

Hi,
Been out of the welding game for a few years what with other project etc and have lost touch with the various bits & bobs needed for sound welds.
I'm in need of gas for both my MIG and TIG sets, but like alot of amatuer welders don't want dozens of different mixes cluttering up my already packed to the rafters garage
I'm looking to some general welding mild steel with my Mig, Ali & S.S with my TIG mostly thin guage stuff, so whats the the minimum amount of bottles/mixes I need to keep?
Pure argon for Ali ? yeah ?
Argon/Co2 for the MIG and S.S Tig OK ?

What are the trade names these days for the various mixes ?

I've got a contact who can sort me out some gas from both BOC or Air Products, but I got to tell him exactly what I want.

I think you'll need...Pureshield argon (BOC) for all tig work including ss and mild steel (it's to prevent tungsten contamination, an argon mix won't do it). And argoshield light (BOC) for the mig

2 cylinders, one pure argon, for the tig, and also useable on the Mig, plus a cylinder of ar/co2 mix

Coogar 5(AP), Argosheild light(BOC)
Yu could look at ferromaxx, but if your planning on chopping and changeing between machines, stick with standard bottles to save having to swap regulators aswell.


The argon, is pure argon.

You can get the pure argon in the integra cylinder
